Snake Apartment kickstart this dirty little bastard with their malevolent ‘Ugly Poltergeist’, drawing us in with a sinister, loping bass clunk before unleashing a series of dissonant, disconnected guitar licks and hectoring blabber, the whole thing cobbled loosely together and mulched into a shambolic, piss-smelling noise-rock howl that steamrollers just about everything in its path. Providence, RI’s Landed have been knocking around for yonks now with releases on labels like Vermiform and Load, plugging tirelessly away to scant acclaim while those they’ve influenced greedily bask in the limelight. Here they dish out ‘Tip Of The Whip’ in answer to Snake Apartment’s offering, matching it blow-for-blow in the ugly stakes with blown-out fuzz, plunging low notes, ominous rending noises and throttled, froth-mouthed jibber-jabber.
