Title Fight - Kingston - 7

Labels: Flight Plan
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Dang this is a cool 7″! Three tracks, flash past in a heart beat, overloaded with urgent, poppy hooks (re: Lifetime) and occasional hefty guitar chugging for slow coaches lagging a long with Hot Water Music. Thats a fine but well trodden path for a veteran bastard like myself, but Title Fight have that extra inexplicable factor that means these songs translate into a quality listen. It’s a positive thing when even someone who has heard pretty much everything this genre has to offer starts tapping his foot. Raw enough to allow the energy to rise above the tunes, well played enough to be dastardly catchy. I can appreciate the blitzkrieg parts and then mellow out whilst they play bass a bit, knowing full well that the band will surge back at any moment, and the vocals are just dead on too. This 7″ if full bore, energy packed music that doesn’t fail to get me excited. Sweet single, I am pretty sure they’ll crank out an enjoyable 20 minute long LP at some point. Or grow up and get boring. One or t’other.
