First up we have Patterns. They have the rock. They have the dance. But the first thing to really grab me is the immediacy of the music. It all comes across like a statement of intent from the word go. Nothing fancy or even particularly new for that matter. Just good powerful drumming underpinning some lovely guitar work. Not too sure about the falsetto vocals which sometimes creep in but on the whole well worth a look. This is ultimately is dance music for the punks.
The Falcon Five are of a much more rawkus nature. Whilst there are some danceable beats at the heart of the songs the general feel comes across more in a rockier vein than Patterns. I think a large part of that is due to the gravely vocals which sit really well in the mix. In places this reminds me of latter day JR Ewing crossed with Les Savy Fav. There’s even time for gang vocals. As the tracks progress so do their ideas, which are all greatly executed.
