This is such a weird 3 track CD. The music starts out like fuzzy shoegaze pop, reminding me of Adorable or something like that. Then the singer starts belting it out like he is in some mid 80s tight leather trouser, cheese metal band. It is astonishing. I have no idea what he is doing? I guess it fits in it’s own peculiar way, but it was not at all what I was expecting. Somehow he manages to bend the music to fit his vocals. On their Myspace page it says they pay no attention to what is going on outside of Manchester, and I’d say they pay no attention to what is going on outside of their own bedrooms to be honest, which is entirely laudable. The second track has a nice, bouncy start, and it’s like if Fountains of Wayne was fronted by that metal guy from the previous song. It’s a bit of a muddle. Track 3 is equally broken and for some reason it sounds like Huey Lewis and the News. I am at this point utterly confused by King Pest, which is probably a good thing. I hope.
