Torturo Nervosa - s/t - CD (2009)

Labels: self released
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Torturo Nervosa play some noisy, punkish kind of stuff, that fits in well with the influences listed on their Myspace such as Shellac and No Means No. The guitars are aggressively played and the vocals are 100% shouty. Things occasionally get a bit more intricate and angular, for want of a less over-used word. This seems to be a pretty early release, but they have a good sound, the production is pretty much spot on for this kind of thing, it is neither too clean, and neither does it bury things under a hissing mess of distortion. Being a three piece, they rely a lot on the muscle of the bass and drums to force things on, and this works extremely well, they settle into some quality grooves. Musically this is pretty decent. Best track on here is “Jeckyll & Hyde”, which brings a little more melody to the fore, I can definitely hear some Fugazi in this one. Solid release from this band.
