Daniel Striped Tiger - Certain Stuff - CD (2009)

Labels: Yellow Ghost Records
Review by: Danny Parsons

Right, so this release is essentially a tour cd for the band’s recent excursion to the land of Australia. The cd itself is a compilation of the band’s past material including: The Desert Bird 7″, self-titled cd ep, Live at Dead Air 11″, They and The Children split 7″ and the more recent 7″ split with Sinaloa (everything bar the two LPs then). There’s a couple of new tracks in the mix for good measure, but I find them a bit hit and miss to be honest. The first – ‘Was It?’ – is a good ‘un for me; the second however (‘Nonstop’) is all a bit…bleurgh. Boring. There’s a nice bit near the end but it’s not really worth listening to the whole song just for that. Oh, and these songs are apparently soon to be released as a split 7″ with Teenage Cool Kids (let’s hope their side is more impressive eh?).

It’s nice to have all the old material on one disc but I’m afraid that all this release has done for me is evoked a longing for them to sound like they used to. *Sad face*.
