A welcome vinyl outing for Cavity’s CD-only “Laid Insignificant” release here, with the added bonus of having the tracks from their “Crawling” 7″ tacked on the end. Order of the day is gnarly, low-slung sludge metal with an unmistakeable hardcore underbelly, making them a bitter pill to swallow if a touch less sick-making than the diseased kith n’ kin they have in Eyehategod. While the pattern’s a relatively easy one to follow “” humungous, grinding Flag Sabbath riffs crashing into each other while someone pukes up a bilious stream of red-raw invective “” it’s still as fiendishly nasty and punishingly heavy as it’s ever sounded, making this “un a welcome reminder as to how this whole lark should be done when compared to all the dull-as-fuck hardcore-cum-doom acts who’ve seen fit to crawl out of the soup in recent years.
