Golden Bullet are from Meulebeke, Belgium (google H8000) and play heavy, chuggy hardcore. The big namedrop for this band seems to be that their sound is pretty insular “” drawing influence from 90s H8000 bands. Having not heard any of those bands before now, its sounds to me a lot like a not-as-heavy 90s metalcore band (chun + spoken parts). Think Bloodlet or Disembodied maybe. The first track wasn’t great and made me think I’d be bored but by track 4 I’m really into it. Total 90s: spoken passage, followed by heaviest part in song, tom-heavy drum roll, chugging over a double kick. Fuck yeah. I’m shocked how hard my mind changed from hearing the first track. Track 5 brought it back a good bit for me with a next-level cheesy hook surrounded by a resounding absence of the sounds I was digging”¦ then they hit with one of those really calm spoken parts followed by a legit explosion. If this band stuck to these “90s metalcore’ parts, I think it would be sick throughout”¦ unfortunately they drag in other influences a few times and I don’t think they work as well. Probably should ditch the gang vocals. It’s a shame because without those few cons I’d probably be backing this record hard enough to get it on the recommended list.
