Astonishingly, this is not an irredeemable mess of ass, but a pretty solid two song blast of chaotic post hardcore. It is far from the relentless barrage that the Swing Kids were once upon a time, but it is two pretty corking songs that mostly remind me of Rye Coalition’s “Hee Saw Dhuh Khat”. Jose Palafox’s drumming is bewildering and makes this worth a listen on it’s own. Pure dynamite, hauling what might otherwise be a pretty average bit of noise along by the Spock hair. Pearson bellows and squawks, and all told these are two songs that show that modern screamo just isn’t cutting it when a bunch of old bastards who are long since out of short trousers can come along and improve on what they’re all doing in a flash.
Ok, so it’s 15 odd years after the fact but Swing Grandads show they’ve still got it. On this evidence, if you ever liked them, then you should give this record a chance.
P.S. Not sure if it’s all copies, but the vinyl on mine is super trebly, which is kind of shame.
