MNMNTS - the Good Life - LP (2011)

Labels: Adagio830
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Mnmnts appear to have lost a few letters from their name. Maybe they will some day do a split with the yet to be formed OUE and be reunited, together again at last. Until then MNMNTS will blaze away. This album is really rather solid, but they kind of blow it for me in places. Opener “œCigarette Mouth” has me thinking that they are going to be absolutely amazing, as it kicks off as fast paced, driving emo, something like Shotmaker or Four Hundred Years perhaps, then in the final minute it lunges into this heavier, more pounding hardcore style more akin to something like Converge. Personally I am more into the melodic moments that they are able to sprinkle in, but this album is going to appeal more to people into the screamo / hardcore style than mid 90s emo I feel. A touch more moshing than floor rolling going on here. All that said, this is a pretty cool hardcore record and I have plenty of time for it. I suspect that this band is somewhat passing under the radar at the moment as I haven’t really seen it get a mention on the Collective forum at least, which is a shame as I think quite a few people would be into this if they gave it a chance.

A final note “” I love the artwork! Foggy football in black and white. Really nice.
