Quite astonishingly, in amongst the blizzard of ultra-high-tempo beats and furious whizzbangs which comprise the majority of this album, there is a sample taken from an extremely obscure British horror film from 1983 called “Suffer, Little Children.”
This film was essentially a drama school project which back in the age when there weren’t 500000 films being released every week, managed to find its way onto commercially released VHS. I’ve only seen bits and pieces of it and wouldn’t dream of recommending it to anyone on the strength of them but the fact this band have chosen to include some voiceover and horrible screaming from it on their album makes me think they know what’s what.
In addition to the above hidden gem, track six is a recording of what is apparently the artist’s parents singing “A Soalin” a Peter, Paul and Mary song from 1963. So far, so bizarre.
Elsewhere, the album consists of industrial blast beats sitting adjacent to blissful ambient pieces reminiscent at times of post Green World Eno.
