Little Ease - s/t I - Tape (2011)

Labels: Suburban Miasma
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This is the first tape that Little Ease saw fit to despatch, late last year. Since then they have gone on to release another on the perennially awesome Art For Blind. This first tape dishes up 7 short blasts of poppy hardcore punk with a little garage tinge. If you were ever partial to Break the Habit you will be delighted to hear that the singer from that band is all over the mic here, getting into it, spilling words. It all comes across like some kind of amalgamation of Action Patrol or Former Members of Alfonsin, and some modern UK garagey hardcore upstarts, like Sauna Youth or Shitty Limits. The garage side of Little Ease’s sound is a touch basic and not really fleshed out at this early stage in the band’s lifetime, but you can’t deny that the killer vocals and occasional bouts of poppiness make this an amiable listen, and a thrilling prospect for those with shortened attention spans. And who can quibble with a lyric like “œIt’s all bullshit. Fuck this. Fuck you all!”
