Belgrado - Panopticon / Vicious Circle - 7

Labels: La Vida Es Un Mus
Review by: Joe Caithness

This is some seriously snare drum slamming, dancey, creepy punk. This little 7″ released by the ever-high-in-quality-control La Vida Es Un Mus label continues Paco Mus’ commitment to releasing brilliant music from Spain, via London. This record contains two mid paced and booty-shakable slabs of post-punk which brings to mind a sound discovered within a time-capsule filled by A Certain Ratio and Siousxie Sioux equally. Not afraid to layer their compositions with endearingly cliché 80s synth drums and vintage delays, Belgrado’s sound is as youthfully energetic as it is vintage. Although only two songs is a bit of a tease, this is worth picking up as both tracks serve as night and day, two sides of the same coin, and leave you wanting to flip the record over many times.
