I can’t get into this one at all despite multiple listens. If I didn’t know better I would say it is a CD of the music for a modern offbeat musical. You can tell they don’t take themselves too seriously by the lyrics which are odd and fantastical with many bizarre characters and chicken slippers featuring throughout. Nothing wrong with that necessarily, but unlike the NME and Julian Cope who will tell you this is “pop magic” and “grandly calamitous” I won’t ever be listening to it again.
