Shake Your Halo Down - Honesty - Download (2013)

Shake Your Halo Down have some personnel changes on this latest four track EP. This time there is Milloy and Blocko input as well as additional vocals from Leeds singer Vanya Slater. It’s a mixed bag in terms of sound and style with some of the gentler sounds of their previous EP as well as indie rock that is more in line with Chris Charlton’s other current band, Protectors. The opening title track makes for a gentle start, being a keys-led, mid-paced tune, while “Vegas Scrape” is much more driven – good tune. “Caught With An Arrow” features keys again and is lo-fi, downbeat and slow. This is an ideal tune for cold, late nights and reminds me of Nathaniel Green – you could probably trace some ancestry to find a link there too. “Nine Lives” brings back the upbeat indie rock. It’s an enjoyable listen. There is some nice variation on here and Chris Charlton shows once again that he can pen fine, melodic tunes.
