I need to get these guys’ insurance details because I just smashed everything in my room to smithereens while windmilling to this. Like a really good spring roll, there’s tons of good stuff going on inside this and there’s an immensely satisfying crunch to proceedings. Harrowed is a power trio melding d-beat with the more “modern” (or rather, decade old) hardcore stylings of a Cursed or a Converge, with some nifty flourishes of power violence and doom in the mix for good measure. It’s stripped down and brutal in a non-boneheaded way, yet remains innately melodic, epic and heavy, helped in no small part by a crystal clear production job. There may not be much in the way of light and shade in amongst the raw attack, but it’s perfect for a 20 minute blast session for sure.
