Skiplickers - The Early Years - Tape (2013)

You know what? I’d pretty much ignored Skiplickers up til now. Wanna know why? Because of their name. It’s silly. And, yeah, I know the lineage and what it’s a riff on and all that. I just thought it was a bit rubbish and it didn’t incline me to check them out. This, though? This is alright. Sixteen tracks from the band’s 2008 demo and their 2009 ‘Mindfucked’ EP. Gargling, base-level d-beat that’s effectively summed up by their singer being pictured wearing Mob 47 and Totalitär shirts on the lil insert that comes with the tape. It’s rampant, knackers-out stuff with the odd phlegm-spattered hook chucked in for good measure, and with tracks named ‘More Cider’, ‘Drink Skate Puke’ and ‘World Of Shit’ you pretty much know what it’s all about before the tape even begins to spool. Decent enough, certainly!
