Ah, hello Afterlife Kids. Nice to see you again. I remember reviewing your excellent LP ‘Morgengrauen’ on these very pages. The way you sounded quite a lot like those Bremen bands but had a bunch of other stuff going on was admirable, indeed that record was ‘recommended’ by me, praise indeed. Nice to hear you’ve continued in the same vein, I still love how you manage to make songs that are 2 or 3 minutes long sound epic. It’s not too much of a departure from that LP really, but that’s okay. Perhaps a little more driving and melodic here, a little less of the ‘mosh’ present in the aforementioned record but still keeping it real and heavy. My favourite track? Oh for sure ‘Luftschlosslogik’ which Google Translate tells me means ‘Castle in the Air logic’. Um…?

Well, nice to meet you Lord Snow. I have heard your name around but for one reason or another have never heard you before. My bad! Your recordings are a bit weird and lo-fi, this is like postmodern screamo or something. Deconstructed screamo. Your drums sound punchy and poppy like a drum machine (this is a good thing) and your vocals are almost fit for Three One G (this is also a good thing). I like hearing bands like yours that sound different enough that I don’t quite get it at first and have to listen again, and listen closer. You also have a song called ‘Free Your Mind, Kevin Will Follow’ which is a great title. And a song called ‘Kwisatz Haderach’ for all the screamo nerds (yeah, yeah, for the ‘Dune’ nerds too).

Alright everyone else! It sounds like both bands come from the same place (I mean influenced and inspired by the late 1990s/early 2000s bands, not geographically, duh) and are both ‘screamo’ bands but sound totally different which is ideal for a split record. Inspired, and inspiring.
