Young guys from Oslo playing mainly emo hardcore, the first few seconds reminded me of Ampere and then it went off on a more standard emo bent. You know what? It’s pretty good, I like it. It’s not quite portraits of past emo,
I guess you could say it was poppier than that, and it has a definite Scandinavian feel to it. I assume the
whole band look like Dennis Lyxzen, all cheekbones, and lovely fringes, but I don’t want to look them up, just
in case they are ugly like me, and ruining the image I have in my head.
The initial 5 seconds of Ampere doesn’t remain unfortunately, and it does drift more into poppy emo hardcore with touches of Refused as the record goes on, but it’s a decent record, thoroughly enjoyable, featuring some pretty fantastic playing and the singer has a good scream on him. It does drift off toward the end and the last track is just too pop/Kerrang style ’emo’ for me, and way too much soloing. Really the first track – ‘Renegade’ is the winner for me though.
Worth a listen.
