Apparently created as playlist for the artist’s own funeral, this is a succession of mellow, often blindingly intense instrumentals, which will ensure even the most cold-hearted mourners are tapping their feet and nodding their heads along respectfully in the cold quiet of the chapel.
The poem read over track three is something of a misstep, as its sixth form rhymes about the signs of the zodiac snap you out of the revelry created by the previous pieces and into something far different. Fortunately though, once Adrian Mole’s girlfriend has finished, a Moroder-esque synth kicks in which carries us through to the end on a wave of Midnight Express nostalgia.
