The Sweet Release of Death were a completely unknown quantity but I’ve instantly fallen head over heels with this LP … opening with a heavy drum groove and then walls of guitars is an easy way to my heart. Swirling, blown out, noisy indie rock with goth tendencies (like all the best indie rock). In the vein of recent bands like Broken Water and not so recent bands like Blonde Redhead … urgent bass lines and drums get overtaken by scratching guitars layering over and over. Highly recommended.
