A House Safe For Tigers - A House Safe For Tigers - LP (2016)

Labels: One Percent Press
Review by: Oli Saunders

I was sceptical with the opening track and the long promo talking about ‘reflective, haunting yet melodious songcraft’ but halfway into song two, ‘Ann Marie’, I’m won over and by the end have decided that this is a wonderful piece of music. Vague comparisons with The Moody Blues spring to mind, particularly the array of instruments that contrast but combine so well, and the soft echoing vocals. There aren’t a great deal of bands like this for sure. ‘Evaporate’ and ‘Search Lights’ continue the album in fine fashion before the fifth track seems like a bit of a throwaway. Still, Neutral Milk Hotel got away with such things. The second side is similarly high in quality – an excellent soundtrack to relax to.
