Ripcord - Defiance Of Power - CD (2016)

Labels: Boss Tuneage
Review by: Oli Saunders

I wonder what the record is for the number of releases by an independent label; I bet Aston Stephens has one hell of a record collection. Here he does a rerelease from an eighties thrash band, Ripcord. It’s good, it all sounds the same to me, there’s no way I’m making it through all 80 minutes of it (there’s a bunch of live stuff added to the original album). The cover artwork is fantastic and there’s clear evidence that the band were hugely influential given that they were doing this in 1988 (wow); this by the way, is the same date as my earliest musical memory: watching Yazz on Top of the Pops.
