Orchestra Of Constant Distress - s/t - LP (2017)

Labels: 8mm
Review by: Alex Deller

Aberrant racket courtesy of people from No Balls, Skull Defekts, Brainbombs and Union Carbide Productions. Those first two namedrops are definitely the most apposite, with the band constructing looping, loping music that’s simultaneously hypnotic and galling. Each spidery track suckers you in with brittle guitar lines, tenacious drum patterns and scrabbles of low-level feedback. So far so good, you might think, but when things have you in their clutches they refuse to let go, keeping you stuck in place like some lock-grooved nightmare that’s so airless you can’t even draw breath to scream. Someone should put them on at Café OTO, if only to see how many members of the audience run screaming from the venue, eyes bloody and brains shot on account of the wonderful, mind-numbing thrum of it all.
