A disparate mix of styles here that have been expertly patchworked together. Lift the veil and you’ll gaze into an abyss of feral metal-punk, outlier Japanese hardcore ½and wobbly, goth-streaked guitar lines, along with queasy drones that drift through the murk like hobby lanterns. The cynic in me can’t help think it’s been conceived and executed with a high degree of knowing smugness, but the band nonetheless manage to nail a nice creepy vibe and keep your attention snagged thanks to an unceasing torrent of rampant, queasy melodies.
