Jesus Piece are a perfectly fine band playing late 90s metalcore. Like the early days of Xibalba they have a definite Disembodied/Bloodlet vibe, though they’re a dash more spry and rather less single-minded … as though the furrow-browed gurn has dosed with a dash of Earthmover or Aftershock, or one of the lesser bands on that old ‘Definitely Not The Majors’ comp. It all sounds studious and on-point, and while I’m listening to it I don’t mind the fact that it’s on. Once the whole thing is over, however, I don’t much miss it – make of this what you will.
