Archaic Tomb’s offering here is slightly frustrating, for the most part offering some vaguely unexciting death metal gurgles but also lobbing in moments of near-brilliant gnarliness every couple of minutes or so. Whether they’re shite or alright is anyone’s guess at this point, though since they have an LP on the way for Blood Harvest I guess we’ll be able to judge for ourselves soon enough. Cryptworm, by contrast stick to not being very good throughout. Their ‘Putrefactive Regurgitation’ takes the form of stodgy, doom-laden death metal which is fine enough in principle but mixes the claggy music way too low and the hog grunt vox way too high, making for an off-balance bucket of muck that just doesn’t sit right whichever way you swill it.
