This Newcastle-based band have been grumbling away for a few years now, and this is their second album. Musically things are wedged between knuckleheaded Melvins lunges and difficult, Jesus Lizard-esque angularity, with the dual vocals variously rasping, snarling or crooning depending on what whim dictates. The guitar seems to have been frontloaded to the detriment of everything else, which is a bit of a shame as it can’t quite carry the weight and there are some interesting elements that could have been drawn into sharper focus – particularly on spacious closer ‘Country’, which hints at the likes of Come and Victory At Sea.
