Three tracks of rancid, old-school death metal from this new Glaswegian band. Unsurprisingly for a band named Coffin Mulch there’re precious few airs and graces, starting out ugly and only getting viler as the demo progresses. Things generally veer between mid-paced galumphs and doom-laden crawls, occasionally opening up into bouts of frenzied speed. Regardless of how far the needle is pushing into the red, however, the riffs remain catchily crushing and there’s no chance in hell you’ll be deciphering the muckspreader vocals anytime soon. It’s a sterling effort, and if you’ve got even a passing fondness for the likes of Autopsy and Asphyx you should be hoping they drain more slime from their stinking casket in the very near future.
