Fuck The Facts - Pleine Noirceur - Download (2020)

Labels: Noise Salvation

Fuck The Facts have been knocking around forever, churning out a bewildering array of releases and even putting in some time with Relapse Records. Not gonna lie, they’re not a band I’ve checked in with much since I found their earlier releases offputtingly goofy and their latter ones rather humdrum, but somewhere along the way I guess they became a more serious concern as this is pretty great. While the twisted, spiky, tech-grind backbone is still intact (think: Discordance Axis; Endon; early Dillinger Escape Plan) other influences are now on proud display – blackened sweeps cast a ragged shadow, as do jagged swooshes that recall Envy before they went fully post-rock – and leave the band in a similar place to fellow Canadians WAKE. Special mention has to be made of the genuinely bloodcurdling vocals – hoarse, raw and with a sick-to-the-pit-of-the-guts sense of desperation that helps tracks like ‘Everything I Love Is Ending’ shine in the most gruesome way imaginable.
