Starships - Demo Tape

Here is a traditionally very late review from me. Desperate apologies to Starships. CZ has been kept going solely by Alex Deller for the past several months and for that I am incredibly grateful. So here’s a rare foray into the written word from me.

Starships initially got in touch because they are involved in several things we have covered over the years. Those things including Slugs and Snails and the label Kids in Misery. I’ll try and get the Slugs review to show up down below this one so you can check that out too. Starships play a fine brand of driving post-hardcore. It has a specifically pure sound that you will recgonise if you have spent time in your life immersed in the scene this music is born from. It has a real live feel that is no doubt a product of the DIY nature as much as anything. The guitars kick the songs along at a good pace.

Starships dosn’t specifically remind me of anyone. Yet at the same time embodies a particular time in my life when I was buying every 7″ I could get my hands on that sounded remotely like this. I will always love music that combines thoughtful melody and punk energy. I’m sure.

If you have hung around on this website for any length of time there’s a good chance you will appreciate this. Check it out, they still have the cassette available too.
