A ha ha, ha ha ha. Who let these guys record a full length? They should have just been content to forever release 7″ EPs for the rest of their career. There is really no need for this record. Really. Which is why it rocks my lame ass. It’ll rock yours too if you desire for a band that revolves around a guy thumping the drums, a band playing what would not be classified as music by anyone even remotely sane, and various guys just going “RA RA RA, RA RA, RAAAAA!” all the time. Makes no sense to me either when written down, but once transferred to vinyl, all becomes, um, clear. I guess this is just thrashed out hardcore taken to it’s limit. No-one can go any further now, and CWV have set the standard for people who want to make a stupid noise, very fast. They do some cool fooling around with electronics also.
There are some awesome samples, including a news report about a carcass that couldn’t be moved, so they brought in some dynamite to blow it up. CWV are obsessed with death, pain and limb removal it seems. Check some fantastical song titles: “My Spine! My Spine! My Spine!”, “One Arm Left”, and “Christ My Leg Is Sore”. Insert art will appeal to those that are ill in the head. Lyrics are by turns utterly worrying, spot on (“You Win, I’m Stupid” – oh thanks so many thanks to you CWV for writing this down in words for me) and funny. Because I doubt anyone will ever top the lines: “You assinine excuse for me to talk in expletives for lenghty periods of time, lessening my chances to go to heaven! jerk!”. Ever. Funniest of all funnies though is that the Maccabees are on the thanks list. You could not wish to find a more polar opposite band. Others are more helpful – Orchid & Reversal of Man.
A whole bunch of tracks with no strucutre, no sensibility, and a whole lot of seemingly incoherent yelling. I fear that the next time I look up the word insanity in the dictionary, it will reference me to Combatwoundedveteran. Your mother will disown you if you play her this record.
