The inlay says a Eulcid is “an object that can be easily moved, that should not be moved, within a room where it can not be moved”. WTF? Oh, I guess, maybe I am a Eulcid when drinking too much beer in my bedroom. Maybe? Whatever. I now remember some kind of graphics package on the Acorn Archimedes at high school that was called Euclid. I think. But that’s differently spelled.
This music is so nothing. I don’t even know what style it is really. It leans heavily on a mid paced emo hardcore style with edge of desperation vocals. Opening track “Polite Guest” is nicely bass driven, things are forcefully played out and singer boy semi-shouts his words. Time changes a plenty, unpredictable too. But it just fails to crush my head with brilliance to be honest. It’s neither melodic enough, nor harsh enough, nor emo enough. It just falls between those 3 well worn stools.
I like song #2, “Postscript About Dancing”. Not only because it has a cool title. But because it’s erratic. Waves of guitars wash over you, and about 2 and a bit minutes in they jangle up and it all breaks down and gets super melodic emo rock, and you think: this is how the band should always sound!
They remind me of newer Party of Helicopters (less rock) plus 400 Years (less screaming) and also the Blood Brothers (if they weren’t crazy, it’s mainly in the vocals). But not nearly as good as those.
Uh, not terrible, but: average. I don’t mean to be mean.
