Review by: Pete Burn

I first heard these punkers on John Peel a couple of weeks ago, and have now located their ‘Maximum Smashism’ LP. This is a disc that spins at 45rpm so you know it’s good shit before it even hits the turntable. The sound it emits is a total cacophany, though Guyana Punch Line have perfected the wall of thrash with ex-members of In/Humanity and .Fuckingcom so it is to be expected. Lyrically it is similar to Jello Biafra in its ironic political / social observation, whilst musically it is similar to bands from the Florida region. I can also hear a more 80s hardcore edge that a number of bands seem to be utilising at the minute. Anyhow, this is another fine hardcore record that more people should be talking about instead of the latest ‘indie emo’ bullshit CD. Fucking Hardcore. Y2K = Y1.
