Hirameka Hi-Fi - Play Hard - 7

Labels: Gringo
Review by: Ian Cavell

Hailing from Colchester, Hirameka Hi-Fi are so boring that their place of origin is the most interesting thing about them. Hi-fi? Lo-fi more like and the kind that plays chicken with a noisy indie pop band in its spare time.

The first track of four, ‘The Brat’ kicks in with some raucous guitar work but disintegrates when the dreadful snotty vocals are introduced. Likewise ‘Gellar’ has a pretty neat lo-fi guitar sound to it which is almost likeable. Until, you realise, that this guitar snippet is the song. Chronic boredom sets in with about a minute. The other two tracks are just utterly atrocious, the final track is so boring some bright spark should sign the rights and market it as a sedative.
