Four songs of harsh vocalled style emotional hardcore here. I’d make a major comparison to Angel Hair for the most part. Except the Kinship have a lot more slower, chuggy parts. Opening track “Kagero” is fairly frantic and screamy, then breaks down into slower grooves and even has some talky vocals. It then explodes into the desperate yelping again towards the end. They tend to drive their songs with the bass guitar, not sure if that is their style, or the recording. Probably my favourite song of the four is “Fueled by Hate for the Centennial State”, which brings in the twinkle part to add a bit more variance, with some rather off kilter guitars that sound a bit like Cap’n Jazz. Except with screamy vox. The final song is messy and metally. Hmm.
Overall, this is unremarkable, and I feel I have heard it done before, and better. But it certainly is not bad, just, A for effort type stuff. The insert booklet is very nice too.
