I wanted to check this record out but I wasn’t too bothered because I wasn’t that impressed by their tracks on the split with the Ex Models. So I was very happy to find their 12″ in a second hand shop in Canterbury for £2.50!
This LP is the bassist from the Ex Models other band and the drummer is actually the chap from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This is thankfully better than the YYYS! To me it sounds like a poppier, less no-wave version of the Ex Models. It’s so pop but it still manages to be really gritty and punk rock, I can imagine it being on Kill Rock Stars or something. It would be really easy to dance too (especially the Madonna cover) and I’m really looking forward to their gig here this Summer.
One song sounds a lot like Devo covering the most recent RHCP single!
