Pulby - s/t - CD (2003)

Labels: Dead Digital
Review by: Chris Bress

This is a really strange release. The cover makes the release look like an emo release and it looks lovely!

The tracks on here show Pulby really growing from their track on the split with Primitive Painter. It’s a lot less lo fi and features some vocals. At first I really didn’t get on with the first track on this cd but its been growing on me a lot. It just builds and builds, the thing I love about this song is the spacey sounds in the background which really remind me of The Album Leaf. It’s the perfect soundtrack to me being really ill and it being very sunny outside”¦sniff.

The second track kicks in like a hip-hop Gescom, then it builds into something which wouldn’t sound out of place coming from Tortoise circa the Warp album. That is until the 80s vocal part, which sounds a tiny bit like the bloke from Coil at times.

The third is like when Goblin played with electronics, but not quite as scary. The fourth track rounds this off nicely with a quiet spacey ambient tune.

This is well worth getting and at four quid ppd you cant go wrong.
