Labels: Newest Industry
Review by: Martin Brown
The latest release on Monk and Jo’s Newest Industry Label is getting some proper promo to it “” I was sent 2 posters, a stack of postcards and even a promotional beermat with this little baby!
This is a good album to drink to, or to drive to. I’ll let you work out your balance with either or both activities. 20 good minutes of strong, well-written Husker Du styled punk tunes with a distinct country and western influence. Opener “Tomorrow’ is a feisty, punchy beginning, but by the end of the record and the excellent “Apologize’ the album has mellowed out somewhat to the realm of post boozing contemplation. At times it sounds a little too much like Bruce Springsteen, but if you’re anything like me that’s not too much of a complaint!
So yes, overall a very solid record. If you like your punk countrified, you know where to come.
