Engerica - Trick Or Treat - CD (2003)

Labels: Wrath
Review by: Mike Whelan

On to Engerica, an Essex three-piece, releasing a three-track single on a Leeds-based label.

This is a real gem of a single. Energetic and punchy, Engerica mix punk with metal and straightforward rock and the result is very impressive. From the punky, Offspring-ish, opener “˜Trick or Treat,’ to the hardcore-meets-pop of “˜My Demise’ and through to the Prodigy-like closer “˜Crooked Sex,’ every song is a winner.

There is enough proof on just these three tracks that Engerica have enough diversity and quality to go far, it’s just a pity there are only three songs on offer, enough to keep you wanting more.

Engerica sound like a million commercial rock acts rolled into one, from Muse to Queens of the Stone Age and back in time to the Sex Pistols. Definitely one to keep your ears peeled for.
