Labels: No Idea Records
Review by: Joe Caithness
Right, well I got this record completely by accident if I’m honest, I wanted the IHM ep but No Idea were all sold out, and am I bothered? No! “Why?” you ask. Because this is melodic hardcore/pop punk/whatever you wanna call it at it’s finest moment.
Duel vocals, one gruff dude and one sweet singing lass; melody and rock, one guitar rocks a riff with the bassist, and the other is twinkling away in the top of the song.
Arguably this has been done over and over since the early 90s, but what hasn’t in hardcore music these days? Fifth Hour Hero do this sound and they get it right. They know how to write a good song: this is upbeat but you wont find any 3 chord punk songs here.
All in all this is a cool little ep, 4 songs for kids that like the ‘core, but like to love… Very impressive.
