Travis Cut - Rhythm Collision - split - 7

Labels: Speedowax

It’s snowing outside. Yay!

Travis Cut! Yay! Everyone loves Travis Cut. Even if they do make all their songs available to you in about 10 different places. Doubling up here with “No Good With Words”, in it’s original Purple Studios recorded format. Not quite as impressive as the one that ended up on their quality album, but still, it’s delivered in their slightly high pitched vocalled, butt kicking pop punk style. Great stuff. “Not Bitter” wasn’t on the album. It’s more of the same sort of thing, but has a misguidedly used sample that is rather intrusive half way through the song, and also a funny bass drum sound. Whatever, damn fine cut from the Cut (ha!) indeed.

I got an album by Rhythm Collision 1 week before Christmas. Which is why I have heard the first song here, “Happy as a Clam” before. What they deliver is this rather stonking, poppy melodic hardcore that really flies. Plenty of opportunity to whop out the ole air guitar and throw yourself around. Also here is “Jumpstart Margolis” wihch carries on in the same vein, although is perhaps a little more punk rock. Vocals remind me of Less Than Jake. Really smoking.

The US & the UK complementing each other finely. And no-sign of Travis Cut desperate to kiss RC’s ass, unlike Mr. Blair and Mr. Clinton.
