Coming on leaps and bounds from the first EP (which certainly had its moments) Eighty Six have produced a damn fine record with their debut album. The song writing is stronger and still very much in that Jawbreaker vein – and songs such as ‘Twentysomething’ really do highlight what this band are capable of. Listening to it now – I’m thinking how good it would be to see them play live because this style of music really comes into its own when played in cosy, smoked filled rooms. If melodic, mid-paced rock piques your interest, then this would be a great CD to acquire.
