Our attention has been grabbed. This track swells with a dirty bassline before giving way to cool, confident hooks. The verse draws you in with almost hypnotically breakneck rhymes building steam with the looping bass line. We’re hit with the hook again until the track withdraws into electronic ambience in the latter 3rd. This track boasts the kind of immediacy that makes it easy to see this being a big hit in club land.
One of the B-sides, “Thirst” manages to upstage the A-side with polyrhythmic beats that are immediately reminiscent of Oval. Train of thought rhymes dominate the latter part of this track. Finally a solid beat is dropped and earlier electronic rhythms become more cohesive.
This is a promising single release from Tim Wright; the album could prove interesting if the quality level is retained.
