Anybody that saw DAT Politics play on the recent tour will surely attest to how much this record was anticipated. They blew the fucking roof of the Malt Cross straight up to Saturn. It was virtually impossible to abide by the “no dancing” rule they try to up-keep.
On vinyl the band sound just as sonically deranged. Pumping beats are what seems to keep most of this from falling over to just being silly, but, DAT Politics are silly, I’m sure they could write a nice song if they wanted but their job is to write stupid songs to dance too. If the guy from Devo who writes music for TV shows like Rugrats went totally mad and French then “Go Pets Go” would be the title of his new record.
At times, I admit, they do go a bit too stupid (in the same way that Blectum from Blechdom did) but c’mon its DAT Politics – lighten up!
