Hey Colossus has gotten itself the tag of “Krautrock meets Black Sabbath”, and I’m inclined to lazily requote that, mainly because it totally hits the nail square on the head, and partly because I am lazy. There’s an endearingly single-mindedness in their approach to this song, which I think is a cover by someone I can’t seem to find out, called “The Money Will Roll Right In”. This is a lot better than you might expect from some indie kids (or men, rather) who have seen the light and succumbed to the ways of metal. Fucking great!
Lords (not to be confused with, er, Lords, who are another excellent whacked-out rock band, this time from Louisville, Kentucky) are from Nottingham, and play excellent whacked-out rock. There’s a fine amount of musical spunking going off on the top, all cheese-wire guitar (think Duane Denison on a blues kick) and incoherent yelling, locked down by a pretty obscene groove. I like the end bit the best. Fucking greater!
