That last cd with the two 12″s on it was pretty good but not great, this however is fucking brilliant. Its camp as anything, dirtier than Miss Kitten and more punk than a lot of the groups covered on this (Angry Samoans, Minor threat, Crass etc). The Soft Pink Truth is Drew Daniel from the fantastic Matmos with help from various SF electro-friends like Blevin Blectum. The cover of “do they owe us a living” is amazing, it has got the same snarling London punk vocals over the top (supplied by Vicki Bennet) but its just so surprising how perfect it sounds techno. Listening to the original I couldn’t imagine how it was gonna work but its so well done you cant help but like it. The Minor Threat cover, “out of step”, is hilarious but the best is saved for track 9. “Homosexual” originally written by Angry Samoans is one of the best electro tracks I have heard, up there with classic Legowelt even, and it is so punk rock and gritty. It makes groups like the Hawnay Troof look like a bunch of puritans. Next I want to hear Drew re-work classic Mayhem, Enslaved, Burzum and Immortal. That would be a fucking record and a half.
