Magnetize - Biome - CD (2004)

Labels: Rimbaud Records
Review by: Kunal Nandi

Here’s an album with a nice line in knowingly esoteric exercises in soundscape exploration, but not at all in a chin-stroking, weirdy-beardy, “œaren’t-I-fucking-clever” manner. This is both accessible and soothing, with an engaging mish-mash of ambience and droning that massages and teases the brain in equal amounts. It’s nicely varied too, with plenty of bits that just go VVVVNNNNNNN alongside sections of Leftfield-esque housy pulsing, with an appealing simplicity that means that it might not be arch enough for Warp records, but it’s perfectly good for me!
