As me and a friend were discussing the other day, all this new great techno like Matthew Jonson, Lucien Nicolet aka Lucien N Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos and the rest is so fucking amazing. It’s like all the old school Warp and Skam stuff like LFO, Aphex, Gescom etc but so much fresher and up to date. The talent of this bunch is higher than most of the people dancing when they DJ, plus their equipment is probably better. This new single by one of the best techno producers around is possibly one of his best. It has it all, psychedelic washes of trance like synths, interesting but straight forward thumping beats and weird chords. The live edits on the b-side made me green with envy at the people who were actually there. Hopefully a steady techno label like Warp will sign him up and all his 12″s will stop costing fucking 6.99 each.
