Labels: Law Of Intertia
Review by: Damien Mills
So i got this quite a while ago from Andy, the first actual vinyl he’s sent me for review i think. It was put out on the UK’s own Audacious Art Experiment which i guess explains it (I believe the cd version was actually given away free with Law of Inertia zine, which in both cases seem quite unusual actions from a label as corporate as latter day Ferret, but noble none the less…)
Somewhere lying around I have this groups first album on cd, though I haven’t listened to it for some time. I don’t think it ever really grabbed me and I sort of dismissed it with the glut of Lambgoat friendly late-Refused alikes that were around, and thus I was not exactly pissing my self with excitment for this one, which I guess makes it a greater triumph for all involved that I’m actually quite enjoying it.
There’s still a bit of ‘Shape Of Punk…..’ in there but this is much more chunky and melodic, and also strikes a balance between experimental and listenable really well. My only real gripe is that sometimes the little interlude parts can ruin the flow and the otherwise quite urgent feel of it in places.
So it’s another in a long line of reviews where I say something about how if you could just get people to listen to it they’d probably dig it, but I guess that is up to them…
